What exactly is a hospitalist?
In short, hospitalists are physicians who devote their practice to the care of hospitalized patients. At Lackey Memorial Hospital, Dr. Bentley will be treating patients within the hospital and within the GPU facility attached to the hospital.
What are the benefits of being cared for by a Hospitalist?
From a patient’s perspective, a hospitalist is a dedicated clinician who will oversee and manage all of your personal medical needs during your hospital stay. Dr. Bentley will also help maintain your continuity of care by working closely with your primary care physician and any consulting physicians involved in your care. Now rest assured, your primary care physician is still very involved in your personal care. In fact with a hospitalist like Dr. Bentley overseeing your hospital stay, the care process is actually more comprehensive because there is constant communication between the hospitalist and your primary care physician. Your primary care physician will provide Dr. Bentley with all of the information about your past health history, and he will discuss any relevant findings, test results, or treatment plans. At the time of admission and discharge, Dr. Bentley prepares a detailed report of findings and treatment plans that are then sent to your primary care physician.
